Join us for two focused Saturday workshops designed to refine your technique and spark new creativity in your dance.
Week 1: Beginnings and Endings
The opening and closing moments of a tango carry emotional weight and leave a lasting impression. In this workshop, we’ll explore:
-
meaningful first moments;
-
original ways to initiate a dance;
-
subtle endings with quiet resonance;
-
dramatic endings to bring the tango to a powerful close.
This workshop will give you tools to make your dancing feel complete. intentional and inspired!
Week 2: Paradas: Variations, Musicality and Decorations
As Mozart said: “The music is not in the notes, but in the silence between.”
Well, apparently he may not actually have said this but we wholeheartedly agree with whoever did! And paradas — pauses in the dance where the leaders and follower’s feet meet — capture this idea of silence perfectly!
In this second workshop, we’ll explore paradas and in particular:
-
variations in placement and feel
-
musicality and flow
- elegant and playful “adornos”
This week will deepen your confidence in using paradas to enhance connection and expression.
Come to one or join both sessions — each workshop offers unique material and insights but together they create a connected arc.
Suitable for improver/intermediate dancers and up. No need to bring a partner – we’ll rotate partners throughout!
We look forward to exploring with you!
