Ready to push the edge of your tango technique? This two-week intensive series dives deep into the world of out of axis movements – those thrilling moments where balance is shared, suspended and reimagined!
Each weeks focuses on one of the two types of out-of axis movements: volcadas and colgadas (essentially: leaning in and leaning out)
We’ll get to grips with the mechanics and discover how to bring fluidity and artistry to these exciting movements.
Week 1: VOLCADAS – Establishing Trust
We’ll create beautiful, flowing shapes while remaining closely connected.
KEY TOPICS:
- Giving and receiving weight safely, confidently and without tension
- Body alignment, posture and comfort
- Smooth transitions in and out of volcadas
- Leading and following volcadas from simple to more complex combinations
Week 2: COLGADAS – Building Trust
We’ll unlock the techniques essential to creating colgadas with confidence.
We’ll focus on:
- fundamentals of off-axis suspension and counter-balance
- body alignment, positioning and posture
- understanding and overcoming fears
- exploring circular energy
- clarifying the lead
- different entries to colgadas and flowing combinations
Who is this for? Suitable for improver/intermediate dancers and up. No need to bring a partner – we’ll rotate partners throughout!
